“Bark to the Park” is a day of family fun to raise awareness and funds for homeless pets in the Midlands

Families of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to participate in “Bark to the Park”, an annual fundraising event hosted by Pawmetto Lifeline, a local animal shelter committed to reducing pet overpopulation in the Midlands. “Bark to the Park” is a one and a half mile fun walk to raise awareness and donations for companion pets. This walk for the animals is April 18 in Finlay Park, but fundraising for the homeless pets begins well before.
100 percent of the proceeds from “Bark to the Park” directly benefit homeless pets in the Midlands. Pet lovers are encouraged to form a walk team or participate individually to raise money through family, friends, and colleagues for homeless pets. A person can register as a “virtual” walker if they cannot be present on April 18, but are still interested in raising funds to help homeless pets. Registration is online at www.barktothepark.com for the fee of $30, which includes a walk t-shirt and entry to the after-party and pet activities following the walk on April 18th.
Registration for the event starts at 9 a.m. and the excitement does not stop until 1 p.m. The and a half mile fun walk begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by an after party and activities beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a special performance by the K9’s in Flight, and delicious food and drinks for the two legged family members. For the pups that love to play dress-up, participants and their furry family members can enter the canine contests for a chance to win Best Look-a-Like, Best Pet Trick, and more.
“Bark to the Park is one of our signature events that have a profound impact on our ability to save companion pets from our local municipals shelters. All are waiting for their second chance; homeless pets waiting in shelters only have three to five days before they are euthanized and all need medical services. By forming a team and walking, you are not only raising money to save a life but your actions are saying our homeless pets are an important part of our community and they deserve to live and be a part of a loving family,” said Denise Wilkinson, Pawmetto Lifeline CEO.
