“Star Search” @ Hollywild
September 7, 2010INMAN, SC – September 7, 2010 – Astronomer Rick Boozer of Greer, SC, who has studied the stars from telescopes across the world, will present a 45 minute multimedia introduction to astronomy beginning at 8 p.m September 18th, extending an educational outreach program started at Hollywild in February. After the presentation, participants can head out to the park’s safari to view the stars at telescope stations, receive additional information, complete a Star Search craft, and enjoy informal discussion with area astronomers from the Foothills Astronomical Society Club and Greenville Astronomy Club.
“Once we started this program, we immediately had requests to offer more. We’re thankful that Mr. Boozer has agreed to join us in continuing to offer this to the public,” explained Linda M. Poole, program coordinator.
Boozer’s program, designed for adults and youth in grades 5-12 guides participants through multiple galaxies through images taken on his explorations through telescopes in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Admission is $10. For an additional $6, visitors can add “Star Search” to their evening adventure.
