2018 Torch Award winners announced

Recipients of the BBB Business of the Year Torch Awards were named at a ceremony held on Thursday, November 08, 2018 at the Capital City Club.  The Torch Award was created to recognize local businesses that exemplify BBB’s high standards of Trust and Ethics.

More than 100 business owners, employees and community leaders attended the ceremony.  The Featured Speaker for the Awards Dinner was the newly re-elected SC Attorney General, Alan Wilson, who discussed creating a healthy business and consumer environment in our community.

BBB Serving Central SC and Charleston presents the Business of the Year Torch Award each year to companies who exemplify ethical behavior and display integrity in all aspects of their operations.  The Torch Awards are open to all for-profit businesses located within the Midlands and Lowcountry regions.  Nominees are offered the opportunity to submit an entry to the BBB, where a panel of independent volunteer businesses and community leaders review the entries and choose the winners.

The evening also featured the election of new Board Members for 2019.  The newly elected Director was Harris Eckstrom of Carolina Business Equipment.  Mr. Eckstrom will join the following Board of Directors for BBB Serving Central SC and Charleston in 2019:
