24 Richland One teachers achieve National Board certification, renewal

December 12, 2018

Seven more Richland One teachers have earned the highest credential available in the teaching profession, while 17 other district teachers have renewed their National Board certification (NBC).

According to the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA), South Carolina had 79 new teachers to receive National Board Certification in December, making it a national leader in the total number of NBC teachers. The district now has 254 National Board-certified teachers. Richland One credits its comprehensive support programs for teachers as contributors to the district’s success.

To be certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, teachers go through a rigorous two-part process that takes up to three years to complete. This process includes completing assessment center exercises based on content knowledge to prove that they have mastered the subjects they teach and that they know how to teach them.

Richland One proudly congratulates its newly certified and recertified teachers and is proud to have them on our team.
