24,000 local students about to gain access to Richland Library card

To further Richland Library’s commitment of promoting student learning in the community, it will partner with Richland School District One as part of the White House’s ConnectED Library Challenge initiative.
More than 24,000 students across 52 different schools will receive a library card, providing them access to every resource that Richland Library has to offer, including:
- Tutor.com
- Mango Languages
- Downloadable books, magazines, music & movies
- Broadband connectivity & wireless access
In addition, it will mark the first time a student ID also serves as a library card for middle and high school students in the Midlands.
Richland Library announced a similar partnership with Richland School District Two last September during National Library Card Sign-Up Month. As a result of both partnerships, Richland County has become one of only 60 communities across the country to participate in the White House’s ConnectED Library Challenge initiative, which aims to knock down barriers and provide children with access to books and other learning materials.
