Fast-growing credit union unveils new look, new website to meet changing tastes

GREENVILLE, SC – SC Telco Federal Credit Union has announced the refresh of its logo and branding, and the re-launch of its website (www.SCTelco.com), strategically investing in an updated and expanded presence as it gears up for what credit union leaders term “a commitment to expanded member capabilities and significant market growth.”

“Over time, every brand freshens its presentation to reflect evolving tastes of customers, whether McDonald’s iconic Golden Arches or Coca Cola’s famous script lettering, as they work to remain relevant to members and customers, and SC Telco is no exception,” noted Brian McKay, Chief Operating Officer for SC Telco.

The familiar logo icon has been rotated and overlays the square of the prior logo design, creating an 8‐sided object similar to a compass, McKay noted. Cultures worldwide consider the number 8 to represent “new beginnings”, which is reflective of the new beginnings that SC Telco strives to provide its members, while the compass-like design reinforces how SC Telco seeks to provide guidance to members in improving their financial lives. A central square reinforces SC Telco’s solid foundation, while the fresh, clean color palette speaks to SC Telco’s relevance to members both today and tomorrow.

The simultaneous website re-launch represents a significant commitment to expand SC Telco’s visibility and reach with members and organizations across the Palmetto State, noted Mr. McKay, who directed the brand freshening and website re-launch initiatives. “By coupling our expanded web presence with integrated marketing programs, enhanced member service capabilities, and the strategic addition of new team members, we intend to accelerate the organization’s access, growth and visibility to current and future members.”

The new website allows site visitors to quickly locate information or conduct business with SC Telco right from the front page and in a single click, noted Mr. McKay. “We wanted to make it easy for our members to go where they need to, get the relevant information and not lose time scouring page after page. We recognize they are busy people.”

The site also encompasses a full menu and description of SC Telco products and services for both individuals and businesses, and a member resource section containing news releases, calculators and safety tips. Branch and ATM locators, information on becoming a member of SC Telco, and access to both online banking and mobile banking are fully integrated into the site as well. The site features a responsive design to accommodate the viewing requirements of users of all types of mobile devices, tablets, laptops and PCs.

“This site is dynamic and very much a work in progress, and a tool that we fully envision will continue to grow, deepen and evolve as time goes forward,” added Mr. McKay.

Many aspects of the site were driven by analysis of best-of-breed competitor sites, as well as in reviewing top site characteristics of web-based organizations. “We focused on what key user audiences want to shape content, organization and navigation, presenting the information they asked for in a fashion that is easily accessible and intuitively located,” noted Mr. McKay.

The new look will be rolled out across all locations and touch points of the credit union over the next several months, he added.

SC Telco, whose footprint spans the Upstate, Pee Dee and Midlands of South Carolina, was recently ranked #4 overall among South Carolina’s Best Places to Work 2014 among companies with fewer than 250 employees.

SC Telco Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1935 as a not-for-profit financial cooperative, and today has over 47,000 members and $273 million in assets. Headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina the credit union also has branches in Easley, Spartanburg, Columbia and Florence.
