Rhino Concessions hires marketing intern

May 21, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – Rhino Concessions has hired its first marketing intern in company history, J.T. Barnes.

Barnes is a rising junior at the University of South Carolina and is pursuing degrees in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He plans to minor in Sports and Entertainment Management as well as Art Studio with a focus in graphic design.

Rhino Concessions is a locally owned business that provides foodservice for the Greenville Recreation Department, Simpsonville Park and Recreation as well as many area waterparks. Rhino is the parent company to the downtown restaurant Funnelicious, which Barnes also will be heavily invested in throughout the summer.

Barnes is the first intern to be a part of the new program aimed at giving real world experience to rising juniors and seniors in college that Rhino hopes to integrate annually, said Mike Pennington, one of Rhino’s owners.

Barnes’s main role this summer will be to increase customer satisfaction and concession sales at the waterparks as well as create social media campaigns, design eye-catching advertisements, developing marketing strategies and creating consistent branding for Funnelicious.

“I’m very excited to be here at Rhino,” Barnes said. “I think it will be great for me to get some real-world marketing experience as I am trying to decide what career path I would like to take upon graduation.”
