Allstate Ramps Up Recruiting in Select South Carolina Cities

July 28, 2011

GREENVILLE, SC – July 28, 2011In a strong demonstration of its commitment to increasing its presence in South Carolina, Allstate Insurance Company has announced that it is looking to appoint 20 new agency owners in the state, specifically in the Columbia, Greenville/Spartanburg and Rock Hill markets.  Allstate is offering a $5,000 referral award to anyone who refers a candidate who is determined as qualified by our team of recruiters and appointed as an Allstate agent in 2011. In addition, Allstate’s new South Carolina insurance agencies plan to hire more than 40 licensed sales professionals through the year.

We see a significant opportunity in the current economy to attract entrepreneurs and mid-career, mid-level managers who are looking to own and operate their own business* and represent Allstate, said Jay Wischum, Allstate Regional Sales Leader. We currently work with our existing Allstate agents, business brokers and recruiters to find professionals with financial or sales backgrounds. However, Allstate is now offering consumers the opportunity to cash in by helping to identify candidates who are dedicated to customer service.

Candidates need a minimum of $75,000 of liquid capital to invest in their agency. Even with the hints of an economic recovery under way, many are unsure if now is the right time to invest money needed to open a small business.  The advantage of investing in Allstate is agency owners are able to leverage one of America’s most recognized brands without ever having to pay a franchise or licensing fee. The capital invested in the business will go directly toward the success of that agency.

Allstate is unique among all other insurers because its agents own the economic interest in the business that they write from day one, Wischum said. Allstate agents can sell the economic interest in their agency. No other branded insurer has this option. If you enjoy working with people to help protect the things they value most and prepare them for the future you’ll enjoy running an Allstate agency. Interested candidates can apply to become an Allstate agency owner by visiting www.allstateagent.com or by connecting with Allstate recruiter Jasmin Forts at 800-447-0286, Ext. 75585.

The Columbia, Greenville/Spartanburg and Rock Hill markets represent key consumer touch points in Allstate’s broader strategy to aggressively expand the provider’s auto insurance presence.  Allstate is currently the second largest auto insurer in South Carolina with more than 370,000 cars and trucks insured in the state.
