Palmetto Health recruiting members for Patient and Family Advisory Council

November 7, 2017

Palmetto Health Patient and Family Advisory Council now is accepting applications. The council is a partnership among health care practitioners, patients and families that will lead to the best outcomes and enhance the quality and safety of patients, family members and providers. Palmetto Health is looking for patients and family members who are engaged in the health care experience at Palmetto Health facilities and willing to share their thoughts and ideas with us. For an application, community members can visit PalmettoHealth.org/pfac for more information and to apply. The application deadline is Monday, Nov. 27.

Council members will work with the Palmetto Health team to improve patient and family-centered care and the patient experience. Council members act as patient advocates providing firsthand feedback and recommendations to Palmetto Health Leadership. Monthly meetings are held at various Palmetto Health locations.

Carolyn Swinton, chief nursing officer, believes the council is a great benefit to Palmetto Health. She said, “I think the biggest benefit so far is that they are validating that key activities we have in place have meaning for patients and families. In addition, the council is giving us information on our facilities and improvements that are needed. Further, they have joined us in the development of the Palmetto Health Quality Plan, really making this plan more patient-centered.”
