Lexington One announces new administrators
June 18, 2015LEXINGTON, SC – At the June 16, 2015 regular monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the promotion of Brice L.S. Cockfield, Ed.D., to principal of Carolina Springs Middle School and approved the employment of Adam D. Dymond as assistant principal at Deerfield Elementary School.
Brice L.S. Cockfield, Ed.D., who currently serves as assistant principal at Deerfield Elementary School, replaces CSMS Principal Alan G. Zwart, who retires effective June 30, 2015.
Cockfield has 15 years of educational experience. He began his career as an English language arts and mathematics instructor at Saluda Middle School and was named Saluda County Teacher of the Year in 2003–2004.
In 2004, Cockfield was promoted to the position of assistant principal at Saluda Primary School. While at Saluda Primary, Cockfield served as principal and assistant principal.
In 2006, he joined Lexington One as assistant principal at Pelion Elementary School and transferred in 2014 to the position of assistant principal at Deerfield Elementary School when the school opened in the fall.
Cockfield holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Newberry College, a Master of Education in divergent learning from Columbia College, and a Master of Education in educational administration K–12, an Educational Specialist and a Doctor of Education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina. He also holds certifications as superintendent, elementary principal, elementary supervisor and elementary teacher.
Cockfield is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Adam D. Dymond comes to Lexington One from Pendleton Elementary School in Anderson School District 4, where he’s served as principal for the past three years.
Dymond has 11 years of education experience. He began his career in 2004 as a fourth-grade teacher at Palmetto Elementary School in Anderson School District One. In 2007, he was promoted to assistant principal at Six Mile Elementary School in the School District of Pickens County. In 2010, he joined Lexington County School District One as assistant principal at Rocky Creek Elementary.
Dymond earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Anderson University, where he served as senior class president. He earned a Master of Arts in school leadership from Furman University and is currently pursuing his doctorate in educational leadership from Gardner-Webb University.
He holds certifications as an elementary principal and elementary teacher.
During his career, Dymond has served on South Carolina’s Single Gender Advisory Committee, the School District of Pickens County’s Teacher of the Year Selection Committee, and Anderson School District One’s District Leadership Team.
He completed the State Department of Education’s Developing Aspiring Principals Program, is an ALICE certified instructor, and has started Guys Read Charters in both Lexington One and Pickens County.
Dymond is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
