HARTSVILLE, SC – Ms. Stephanie Hall (left) and Ms. Patricia Toney The Wiggins School of Education awarded its first Educator of the Year Award to Stephanie Hall, special needs teacher at Southside Early Childhood Center in Hartsville.

Faculty and staff presented Hall with the award during the fall dinner honoring supervising teachers.

“The dinner is an excellent time to not only honor those who supervise our student teachers, but also those who supervise the many field experience hours our candidates complete,” said Amanda Goyeneche, Director of Education Internship Programs for the Wiggins School of Education. “Ms. Hall graciously accepts over a dozen candidates a year and guides them in best practices with her students. This honor is in recognition of her many years of support and service for the Teacher Education Program.”

“Southside Early Childhood Center, with the leadership of principal Patricia Toney, remains an influential resource for our candidates and the community,” said Susan Henderson, Director of the Wiggins School of Education. “We are so appreciative of the partnership of Darlington County Schools.”

Hall was selected based on feedback from teacher candidates concerning her support during their field experiences in her classroom. Candidates consistently provided positive feedback regarding her mentorship.

“I love this teacher,” said one candidate. “She would be great for any Coker student. The course was great, the teacher was great, and the experience was amazing. That makes me glad I chose to be a teacher.”
