Lizard’s Thicket Kicks Off Celebration of 35 Years of Food, Family and Community
January 6, 2013COLUMBIA, SC – January 7, 2013 – Lizard’s Thicket announces plans to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the opening of the business’s first location of its family-owned and operated restaurants. The business will celebrate its 35 years in 35 days at each of its 15 locations beginning Monday, January 7, 2013.
Bob and Anna Williams opened their first restaurant on Broad River Road in 1977 with a desire to serve simple, comforting dishes at reasonable prices. 35 years later, Lizard’s Thicket is still owned and operated by the Williams family. Third generation Williams family members also work at Lizard’s Thicket, and most recently, Lizard’s Thicket opened a restaurant in Florence, S.C. Today, in its 15 restaurants, Lizard’s Thicket employs 700 and serves over 13,000 diners at breakfast, lunch and supper each day and has become known for it’s affordable, fast country cooking and great service.

To celebrate its 35th birthday, for 35 days (January 7 – February 10) Lizard’s Thicket plans to highlight long-time employees, devoted diners, several of our community’s non-profit and philanthropic organizations and local farms and vendors the business uses, as well as introduce new children’s coloring pages and birthday coffee mugs in the restaurants. Lizard’s Thicket invites the public to join in the celebration and will offer plenty of special offers and giveaways to fans and followers of the restaurant on Facebook and Twitter.
