McGraw-Hill Senior Vice President Jeff Livingston Featured in 22nd Annual AT&T African-American History Calendar

NEW YORK, NY – October 5, 2010 – Jeff Livingston, senior vicepresident of McGraw-Hill Education’s College and Career ReadinessCenter, has been selected by AT&T South Carolina as an honoree forthe 2011 AT&T African-American History Calendar. Each year, thecalendar features 12 individuals from the areas of journalism,business, entertainment, broadcasting, sports, and public service andhas included the likes of Senator I. Dequincy Newman, Modjeska MonteithSimkins and Jesse Jackson.
Mr. Livingston was announced as an honoree during an unveiling ceremonyat the Kroger Center for the Arts in Columbia, S.C. The calendar isdesigned to assist students in learning more about the contributions ofdistinguished African-Americans who have connections to the state.Since its launch in 1989, the calendar has emerged as a global resourcefor recognizing the achievements of African-Americans with ties toSouth Carolina.
I was fortunate enough participate in the development of this calendaras a marketing intern with, what was then, Bell South of South Carolinain 1989. It is truly an honor to be recognized among the highlyaccomplished African-American professionals and civil rights activistswho have inspired me to succeed since childhood, said Mr. Livingston.Their dedication and hard work created new opportunities for mygeneration and those that follow and I accept this honor in their name.It is important that the children of South Carolina and across ournation have the opportunity to learn of, and benefit from, the manyinspirational, historic and diverse stories that belong to their localcommunities and state.
The individuals featured on the 2011 African-American History Calendarjoin a select group of individuals from South Carolina who serve asshining role models for children throughout the state. They have made adifference in their fields and their communities, excelling in areas asdiverse as education, business, entertainment, sports, arts and craftsand public service.
Mr. Livingston currently leads McGraw-Hill Education’s College andCareer Readiness Center, a group that is dedicated to helping highschool students attain the skills needed to excel at the postsecondarylevel. Before joining McGraw-Hill Education in 2004, he was asuccessful entrepreneur specializing in instructional technology andurban school district marketing. Previously, Mr. Livingston wasco-founder, president, and chief operating officer of Achieva.com,where he helped to build the largest provider of online test prep andcollege prep for American high schools. Mr. Livingston holds abachelor’s degree in government and economics from Harvard University.In the early 1990s, he spent several years in investment banking andtrading financial derivatives for Merrill Lynch.
