S.C. Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities Foundation announces Rochelle Williams as new executive director
The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Rochelle Williams as its new executive director. Williams previously served as a principal consultant and strategist with the South Carolina based management consulting firm Gather. In that role, she oversaw nonprofit mergers and dissolutions, administrative restructuring, capacity building, and organizational development for nonprofit organizations and public agencies in the state, the southeast, and nationally.
As the Governor’s School Foundation’s executive director, Williams will lead the organization’s development and business operations.
“Rochelle brings to the executive director position an abiding commitment to helping nonprofits succeed, as well as a host of management and financial skills that will help the foundation become even more successful at its mission of supporting the Governor’s School,” said Stephen Cox, chair of the foundation’s board of directors.
Williams most recently worked as the director of development at Middle Tyger Community Center in Lyman, S.C. She served in the same role at the Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault in Atlanta, Ga.
Williams joins the foundation as it prepares to launch a year-long campaign to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the school’s residential campus in downtown Greenville.
“We look forward to our continued partnership with the foundation under Ms. Williams’ leadership and vision,” said Dr. Cedric Adderley, Governor’s School president. “Her exceptional credentials and experience in the nonprofit sector will serve the foundation, our donors, and our school well as we usher in our 20th anniversary year.”
Williams is a resident of Spartanburg and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The S.C. Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities Foundation also recently hired Director of Development Amanda Herlihy. Herlihy served as the associate director of individual giving at the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York, NY. Prior to that, she was the senior development manager at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York.
