You Started When?

February 16, 2018

When reading about the accomplishments some people make in business, sports, and personal lives, you find one common point. They all started their journey. They never just mulled it over, debated, it, made lists and resolutions never to execute on. In each one of these stories, they started doing when they ultimately accomplished.

Once the common thread of starting is removed, these stories all take on a personal life of their own. They have different beginnings and backgrounds. They had different reasons to start. They all have different aspects of why they started. Many found ways it would not work, ways to improve what did work. Some just saw ways to do it differently which allowed them to improve upon something.

Does it matter to us when you started saving for your future? It just matters that you make the effort to start. OK, we get it and hear it all the time. You do not want to talk with a financial professional because you do not have enough saved. Or you know you do not have a plan and need one. You have too much debt and you do not feel like being lectured about it. Sure, you might not have enough life insurance. You may need to start a budget. You could make every excuse in the book not to sit down with someone. But just like every successful story you hear about, they just needed one good reason to start.

There is a big difference between evaluating someone’s situation and judging them. There is also a difference between guiding someone with appropriate suggestions and just telling them what to do. We prefer to evaluate, we prefer to guide, and we always support when and why you started your financial journey.
