Golf Event supports community designed for people with autism and intellectual disabilities

August 26, 2019

Pawleys Island, South Carolina – The SOS Charity Golf Event (SOSCGE), a 100% volunteer 501c3 charity, is focused on raising awareness of the needs of people with autism and those who provide care for them as we raise funds to help satisfy those needs for people in our local area. There is a severe lack of safe and sustainable housing for individuals with developmental disabilities in Horry and Georgetown Counties. The lack of resources leaves individuals at risk for placements in nursing homes and other unsuitable living conditions if the caretaker passes away.

As such, it is with great pride and enthusiasm that we devote our net fundraising collections to Oak Tree Farm, an initiative of SOS Health Care, Inc. aimed at building and operating a residential housing community for 100+ young adults and adults with autism and related disabilities, people whose families and other caregivers cannot provide 24/7 care for these individuals.

In our 2018 inaugural year, we donated $26,200! For 2019, we are hoping to build on that success. This year’s tournament will be held October 21st at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. Prospective players and anyone interested in sponsoring our charity tournament can register through our website: soscharitygolfevent.org.
