Charleston Metro Chamber welcomes Darryl Brown to talent advancement team

The Charleston Metro Chamber is pleased to announce Darryl Brown as Director of Emerging Workforce & Trident Regional Career Specialist. In this role, Darryl will build and nurture partnerships between education and industry to deliver career exposure and exploration opportunities for the emerging workforce. Additionally, he will serve as the regional career specialist in service to local school districts through the state education department’s Office of Career and Technical Education.

Prior to the Chamber, Darryl served as Regional Industry Manager for CareerSource Northeast Florida, where he built bridges between education and employers to create career pathways for students upon graduation. He worked collaboratively with industry, government leaders and educational institutions to increase the talent network in Northeast Florida to support the arrival of high economic impact companies like Amazon.

He facilitated onsite Career and Technical Education workshops to educate teachers on industry trends and career pathways. As Vice President of the College of Business Advisory Council at Florida State College Jacksonville, he provided critical guidance to align curricula with workforce development needs of the region.

Prior to his career in economic development, Darryl had a distinguished career as a naval officer, which included commanding the warship USS Robert G Bradley. Darryl is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the Naval War College. He and his wife Monique reside in Mount Pleasant with their two daughters.
