Sunshine City Fundraiser Blows Past Goal, Adjusts Target to $5,000 to Support Displaced Businesses in Downtown Clinton

September 8, 2024

Sunshine City’s fundraiser to support the local businesses affected by the recent fire in downtown Clinton, SC, has been met with overwhelming success. With over 300 shirts already ordered, the initial goal of raising $3,000 has been surpassed, prompting owner Ashley Martin to increase the target to $5,000.

“We’ve been blown away by the community’s response,” Martin said. “We hit our first goal in no time, and we’re not stopping! Now, we’ve set a new goal of $5,000, and we’re still taking orders through Friday.”

The limited-edition shirts feature the powerful message: “Out of the hottest fire comes the strongest steel,” symbolizing the resilience of the Clinton community. All profits from the sales are being donated to the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Main Street Clinton Fund, which has been established to support the recovery and revitalization of Historic Downtown Clinton.

Shirts are available in various styles, including short sleeve for $20, long sleeve for $25, and crewneck sweatshirts for $30. The fundraiser allows customers multiple ways to place their orders: they can now order online at www.shopsunshinecity.com, message Sunshine City on social media, call the shop, or visit in person.

“The website is live, and we’ve made it as easy as possible for people to get their shirts and help this important cause,” Martin said. “We’re so grateful for everyone’s support!”

This heartwarming effort, initially fueled by a goal of $3,000, is now working toward raising $5,000 as the Clinton community continues to rally around its downtown businesses. The campaign embodies the town’s determination to rise from the ashes stronger than ever.

Shirts will be available for order until Friday, and Sunshine City encourages everyone to participate in this vital cause. “THANK YOU sooo much for your support and outpouring of love!” Martin added.
