Lander University Honors College to Offer Senior Scholars Program

In addition to providing general education courses to high school juniors and seniors, select dual enrollment students will now be invited to join the Honors College as high school seniors and to take an honors course during their senior year of high school.

“Many of our dual enrollment students stand out as stars in Lander classrooms,” said Dr. Lillie Craton, director of the Honors College. “By recognizing their ability and contributions, we hope to reinforce their enthusiasm for higher education and give them a taste of the rich opportunities that Lander has to offer.”

The first group of Senior Scholars were recently invited to enroll in a pilot honors course offered in the upcoming Spring 2025 semester. Upon completion of the course, Senior Scholars who choose to enroll as undergraduates at Lander for the2025-26 academic year will receive automatic admission into the Honors College. As a Lander student, membership in the Honors College includes perks such as priority campus housing, early class registration, study abroad scholarships and a Fall 2025 field trip to New York City.

The first cohort was selected by invitation from among Lander’s most academically successful dual enrollment seniors. Teachers, guidance counselors and homeschool educators can also nominate dual enrollment seniors for consideration by contacting Lillie Craton at [email protected] or 864-388-8024.

Qualifying students, who must have a weighted GPA of 3.25 or higher, can take up to six hours (two classes) per semester, paying only for books or other course-related fees. Admissions counselors at Lander are available to help students navigate the dual enrollment application process.
