Jeffrey Netzinger promoted to Engineering & Projects Director for the Town of Hilton Head Island
December 4, 2024Jeffrey Netzinger, an experienced engineer with the Town of Hilton Head Island, has been promoted to Engineering & Projects Director. In his expanded role, Jeff will oversee the Public Projects, Stormwater, and Transportation Divisions and serve as the Town’s designated Engineer.
Jeff joined the Town in January 2017 as Stormwater Manager and has demonstrated exceptional expertise and leadership in his field. Under his guidance, the Stormwater Division has become a highly responsive and attentive team, meeting the community’s needs with efficiently. One of his key accomplishments includes developing a stormwater risk assessment tool that helps prioritize service requests and informs budget planning – a clear example of his commitment to innovation and process improvement. During recent hurricane threats, Jeff and his team played a pivotal role in monitoring water levels and implementing measures to limit widespread flooding across the Island.
“Jeff’s extensive experience in transportation facility design, stormwater infrastructure, and traffic studies, combined with his deep knowledge of our Island’s infrastructure, make him the ideal choice to lead the Engineering & Projects Department,” said Assistant Town Manager Shawn Leininger. “We are confident he will continue to make significant contributions in this new capacity.”
Throughout his career, Jeff has built strong relationships with vendors, colleagues, and community stakeholders, earning widespread respect for his leadership, innovative thinking, and focus on delivering outstanding results.
Jeff holds bachelor’s degree in history from Georgia State University and civil engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Before joining the Town, he served as Project Manager and Director of Transportation at Hussey Gay Bell in Savannah, Georgia, for over 17 years, following a series of engineering roles with regional firms.
