Good Strategies launches new Tricounty Nonprofit Directory and Events Calendar to boost local volunteerism
January 7, 2025Good Strategies, Charleston’s leader in social impact solutions, announced the launch of two new Charleston regional community resources aimed at making it easier to discover and engage with more of our many local nonprofit organizations: the Good Strategies Nonprofit Directory and Community Events Calendar.
Just in time for National Resolution Day, we’re offering tools that provide a great starting point for anyone whose 2025 resolutions include giving back—better, with an organization that truly resonates, connects you with your community, and delivers meaningful impact. Both resources are available on our website at goodstrategiesus.com, are mobile-friendly, and completely free of charge.
We are excited to launch this innovative new platform and hope it will serve as Charleston’s one-stop-starting guide for discovering the whole spectrum of great organizations and causes that exist in our community, making it easier to explore volunteer opportunities, and find the local events supporting these efforts— all in one place.
-
Curated List of Nonprofits: This easy-to-use directory found on the main menu on our website features a drop down list to a wide variety of organizations by category —many of which may not be widely known. From Arts, Environmental and Animal causes to organizations that support Community Economic Development and Veterans Services, we have listings in every category and interest at your fingertips. We’ll be continually updating the information on a regular basis to keep it current and will make adjustments and additions upon request.
While not a ‘volunteer matching tool’ or a directory for receiving help, it IS a new resource for giving help: a collated inventory of all of the nonprofit organizations in the tricounty area to explore for a wide variety of potential volunteer opportunities that align with your skills, interests, and values.
Developed in response to feedback gathered through our Community Engagement Survey, which identified difficulty finding good opportunities as one of the top barriers to engaging with the community, the directory aims to solve this challenge by providing a streamlined way for individuals to discover more organizations in need of volunteers.

Community Events Calendar: This comprehensive calendar serves as a central hub for all upcoming community events, nonprofit activities, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities. Whether you’re interested in attending an event, participating in a fundraiser, or donating your time, the calendar provides an easy-to-navigate space for individuals and families to get involved in making a difference.
Both resources are designed with user-friendly layouts to ensure anyone can easily find on our learn about, and connect with organizations to explore potential volunteer opportunities. We encourage the public to use these tools as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a regional culture of giving and improving the process for personal community engagement.
About Good Strategies: is a social impact consulting firm formed to drive positive change in the Charleston region through the power of volunteerism. There are more than 1300 non profit organizations in the Tricounty Area, and we want to make it easier for everyone to find them, learn about what they do, and hopefully find innovative and meaningful ways to engage and support them.
“After years of organizing volunteer opportunities for groups of all sizes in the Charleston area, I realized that there needed to be a single place where people could easily see all of the nonprofits and causes that exist in our region,” said Nina Magnesson, co-founder and principal at Good Strategies. “Many people want to volunteer but aren’t sure where to start or how to discover the right fit. Others may be looking for fresh, innovative opportunities beyond the same few organizations and volunteer activities most people are familiar with. We will never be completely finished and it will always be evolving, but I hope this platform will get more nonprofits’ news out there in a format that inspires greater excitement about connecting with our community, and finding fulfillment through a greater degree of impact. We will be especially keen on finding great volunteering opportunities for kids and teens, as this is a regular request that is often difficult to accommodate in Charleston. ”
