Free Community Shred and RX Takeback Event
October 4 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Laurens County residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents and unused medications at a Free Community Shred and RX Takeback Event on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (or until the shred truck is full).
The event will be held at Piedmont Technical College (Laurens Campus), 663 Medical Ridge Road, Laurens, SC.
Event Details
Community members are encouraged to bring confidential papers for on-site shredding. To help keep the process safe and efficient, participants are asked not to bring metal objects, file hangers, binder clips, or binders.
In addition, the event will feature a Prescription Drug Takeback collection, providing a convenient and responsible way to dispose of expired or unwanted medications. This effort supports a safer community by preventing accidental misuse or environmental harm caused by improper disposal.
Local Support and Sponsorship
The event is sponsored by Founders Federal Credit Union and the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Reynolds emphasized that events like this play an important role in both crime prevention and community health.
“Identity theft and prescription drug abuse are serious issues across the country, and we’re committed to offering resources that protect our residents,” Sheriff Reynolds said. “By working together, we can make Laurens County a safer and healthier place to live.”
Community Impact
This free event provides a valuable service to residents who want peace of mind when disposing of personal records, while also helping families safely clear out medicine cabinets. Both efforts support public safety and the well-being of Laurens County.
