GIS Division Manager

Georgetown County Government is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the role of GIS Division Manager. This position plays a critical role in overseeing the county’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS), ensuring uptime, data integrity, and integration across departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database architecture, data design, process improvement, and leveraging geospatial technology to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to GIS
• Provide leadership, guidance, and technical mentorship to GIS staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in GIS
• Edit and oversee the editing of critical county data such as parcels, addressing, roads, and drainage among others
• Prepare and present reports, maps, dashboards, and or and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Represent the county in meetings, conferences, and professional associations related to GIS
• Lead process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance departmental efficiency and workflows, utilizing innovative GIS methodologies and technologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data and integration across departments, aligning GIS initiatives with organizational goals
• Establish and maintain partnerships with other agencies, consultants, and vendors to leverage resources and expertise
Qualifications
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field • Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS • Strong technical skills in database architecture, data design, and GIS software • Experience with process improvement and automation. •Excellent leadership and communication skills • Ability to work effectively in a team environment • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to GIS
Special Requirements
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS • Strong background in ESRI GIS, ArcGIS Enterprise 11.2, ArcGIS Online, REST, ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft SQL • Strong background in advanced data editing and curation • Strong background in relational databases • Strong background in server administration within a Windows environment • High level of expertise with Microsoft 365 Office Suite, including SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, and related tools • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Proficiency in reading and evaluating a variety of data sources, including CAD, and the ability to parse data into enterprise database(s) • Team player, willing to perform related duties as required, including attending meetings, participating in county bid evaluations, • Essential personnel, meaning availability during emergency situations such as flooding and hurricane activity, among others
