December 18, 2025

The Charter Institute at Erskine (Institute) announced that its Board of Directors has approved a total of six transfer schools from the Limestone Charter Association after adding three additional schools during its board meeting on Thursday, December 11.

The three new schools approved for transfer are:

  • Entrepreneur High School
  • Harrisburg Global Academy
  • Horse Creek Academy – Kershaw

At a previous board meeting hosted on November 13, the Board approved Colearn Academy, Morning Star Academy, and South Carolina Construction Academy. These transfer schools will join the six already approved pipeline schools that are set to open for the 2026-2027 school year, making a total of 12 new schools.

“Our continued growth is driven by a shared vision for excellence and a commitment to putting the children of South Carolina first,” said Superintendent Cameron Runyan. “Welcoming six new schools in addition to our pipeline schools marks a significant milestone for the Institute and for families statewide. This momentum strengthens our ability to expand high-quality educational options and deepen our impact in communities across every corner of South Carolina.”

Entrepreneur High School, located in Spartanburg, will open for the 2027-2028 school year, initially serving grades 9-10 before expanding to serve grades 9-12. Its mission is to foster active and engaged citizens by emphasizing academic achievement, character development, entrepreneurial skills, and community service. Administrators, teachers, parents, and community members collaborate to equip students with the essential entrepreneurial skills necessary for becoming fully engaged, productive, and successful adults.

“Entrepreneur High School emphasizes the importance of community support behind student success, and we are eager to have the Institute as part of our family,” said Alex Lucero, Chief Executive Officer of REAL Journey Academies. “With the Institute as our authorizer, we are confident that our students and staff will receive the support and resources they need to thrive.”

Harrisburg Global Academy, located in Indian Land, will open for the 2026-2027 school year and serve grades K-6. The school’s mission is to teach children to become leaders in their communities and create collaborators, communicators, and change-makers both locally and globally. They will achieve this by empowering children to lead and learn, ensuring they meet their full potential.

The school’s curriculum emphasizes World Language instruction by including Spanish as part of an elective block. STEM is also integrated into the daily curriculum, with electives being offered to middle school students.

“Our goal at Harrisburg Global Academy is to do more than just educate our students. We aim to empower them to become leaders in their communities and beyond,” said Board Chair Kevin Arrowood. “We are eager to begin this partnership with the Institute to see how we can combine resources to improve education in our state.”

Horse Creek Academy – Kershaw, a K-6 school in Camden, is currently in its first year of operations using temporary modular buildings and will move into a new state-of-the-art building for the 2026-2027 school year. Through personalized student support and a whole-child approach to education, the school invests in each child and is committed to seeing student success.

“After comparing values, goals, and expectations, our team discovered quickly that the Institute was the right fit for us – and we were the right fit for them,” said Board Chair Craig Smith. “We always want to do what is best for our students, and we know that this decision to transfer to the Institute will only make us stronger as a school community.”
