Charleston County School District (CCSD) is celebrating six high schools recognized by the College Board on the 2025 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll, a national distinction honoring schools that expand access to rigorous coursework while supporting strong student outcomes. This marks an increase from four CCSD schools recognized in 2024.

Launched in 2023, the AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools based on student participation in AP coursework, success in earning college credit, and sustained engagement in advanced academic pathways. The recognition reflects each school’s commitment to building a strong college-going culture and expanding opportunities for students to demonstrate college readiness.

I am incredibly proud of our students, educators, and school leaders for this continued commitment to academic excellence.”

At Lucy Beckham High School, leaders say the recognition reflects a focus on opportunity and preparation.

“Access to rigorous coursework is essential to preparing students for college and beyond,” said Anna Dassing, principal of Lucy Beckham High School. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our teachers and the determination of our students to take on academic challenges and succeed.”

West Ashley High School’s recognition highlights continued progress in expanding advanced learning opportunities.

“This honor reflects years of intentional work to increase access to challenging coursework while building strong supports for students,” said Dr. Brandt, principal of West Ashley High School. “Our teachers are deeply committed to helping students grow in confidence, skill, and readiness for what comes next.”

Across all six honorees, students demonstrated strong participation and performance in AP coursework, reflecting sustained progress in expanding access to advanced learning opportunities. Several schools’ multi-year recognition underscores an ongoing commitment to academic excellence and equity.

This achievement highlights the collective efforts of students, educators, school leaders, and district teams working together to maintain high standards while expanding opportunity for all learners.
