Christopher Holbrook named permanent principal of A.C. Corcoran Elementary

February 3, 2026

Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced that Christopher Holbrook has been officially appointed as the Principal of A.C. Corcoran Elementary School, effective immediately. Holbrook had previously served as Interim Principal since July 2025 and as the school’s Assistant Principal prior to that, where he quickly became a trusted leader within the A.C. Corcoran community.

With more than 20 years of experience in public education and a proven record of school improvement, Holbrook has demonstrated steady, student-centered leadership throughout his time at A.C. Corcoran. His deep knowledge of the school’s needs, commitment to academic growth, and strong relationships with staff, students, and families made him the clear choice for this permanent appointment.

“Mr. Holbrook has led with integrity, compassion, and focus,” said Superintendent Anita Huggins. “He has earned the trust of the A.C. Corcoran community and brings both experience and heart to the work. We are excited to see him continue guiding the school forward.”

Prior to joining CCSD, Holbrook served as a principal in North Carolina at the WSFCS Virtual Academy and Whitaker Elementary, where he led both schools to significant academic growth and earned high praise for his leadership. At the Virtual Academy, Holbrook’s leadership helped the school meet its growth targets while achieving a 100 percent staff satisfaction rating. At Whitaker, student gains placed the school in the top 15 percent in the state for academic growth.

Holbrook holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University. He is also a member of the University of Virginia Partnership for Leaders in Education and holds a superintendent license in North Carolina and South Carolina.

As Principal of A.C. Corcoran in Holbrook, I remain committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving environment where every child thrives.

“Serving the A.C. Corcoran community over the past year has been an incredible honor,” said Holbrook. “I am deeply appreciative of the trust placed in me by our families and staff, and I am excited to continue working together to support every student’s growth and success.”
