Richland School District Two celebrates new National Board Certified Teachers
February 26, 2026Richland School District Two celebrates its newest cohort of National Board Certified Teachers, recognizing their dedication to excellence in teaching and learning and their lasting impact on student success.
National Board Certification, awarded by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), is widely regarded as one of the highest professional distinctions an educator can earn. The rigorous certification process requires teachers to demonstrate advanced content knowledge, reflective practice, and measurable impact on student achievement.
Richland Two continues to support educators seeking certification through mentoring, professional development, and collaborative learning opportunities — reinforcing the district’s commitment to recruiting, retaining, and developing outstanding teachers.
According to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the teachers listed below achieved National Board Certification on December 6, 2025.
Exceptional Needs Specialists
- Meredith Brooks (Early Childhood through Young Adulthood/Early Childhood); Bethel-Hanberry Elementary
- Emily Fisher (Early Childhood through Young Adulthood/Early Childhood); North Springs Elementary
- Ashley Paton (Early Childhood through Young Adulthood/Early Childhood); Catawba Trail Elementary
- Danielle Verwers (Early Childhood through Young Adulthood/Mild and Moderate Disabilities); Blythewood High
Literacy: Reading-Language Arts

As instructional leaders, these National Board Certified Teachers serve as mentors, innovators, and champions for student success, helping prepare learners for college, careers, and life beyond graduation.
While certification is a rewarding professional growth experience, it also provides a significant and tangible benefit for educators. Certified teachers employed by Richland School District Two receive a $5,000 annual supplement from the district for the life of their certificate. Additionally, teachers receive state incentives ranging up to $10,000 annually. With these newly certified educators, Richland Two now proudly employs 210 teachers who have earned National Board Certification, further strengthening the district’s commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
