A Glorious Case: Maritime archaeologist Dr. Sara A. Rich discusses a Revolutionary War Shipwreck in the Cooper River
March 18 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
On Wednesday, March 18 at 10:00 a.m.at the Georgetown Library (405 Cleland Street, Georgetown, SC 29440), as part of “A Glorious Cause,” Dr. Sara A. Rich, a prolific author and maritime archaeologist at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), will delve into the remains of a Revolutionary War shipwreck buried for centuries beneath the murky waters of the Lowcountry’s Cooper River. What secret histories can the shipwreck whisper to us from the deep? Dr. Rich’s presentation will be delivered in partnership with the South Carolina Maritime Museum.
The Georgetown County Library (GCL) will host a series of 20 public educational programs and exhibits as part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative of the Georgetown County Library.” The programs, which will be free and open to the public, will take place at each of GCL’s 5 facilities across Georgetown County from March 2026 through June 2026. The project is made possible by a $39,300 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
