A Glorious Cause: Historian Paige Sawyer presents “Fascinating Facts about General Francis Marion”

May 6 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

On Wednesday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Andrews Library (105 North Morgan Avenue, Andrews, SC 29510), as part of “A Glorious Cause,” Paige Sawyer, Chair of the Francis Marion Interpretive Center in Georgetown, will expound on fascinating facts about General Francis Marion. An active member of Georgetown 250, Sawyer is a popular public speaker who has operated a Revolutionary War walking tour in Georgetown for years that focuses on the exploits of the “Swamp Fox” in our area.

The Georgetown County Library (GCL) will host a series of 20 public educational programs and exhibits as part of “A Glorious Cause: South Carolina and the American Revolution: A Public History Initiative of the Georgetown County Library.” The programs, which will be free and open to the public, will take place at each of GCL’s 5 facilities across Georgetown County from March 2026 through June 2026. The project is made possible by a $39,300 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) administered by the South Carolina State Library (SCSL).
