Wooden Boat Exhibit | Awards Ceremony 4 PM
Over 100 classic wooden boats ranging in size from kayaks to yachts will be displayed in the water and on Front street. Visitors will be able to meet and talk to wooden boat craftsmen, manufacturers, and owners. Maritime art, crafts, models and educational exhibits will also be on display.
Wooden Boat Challenge: Boatbuilding 12 noon- 4 PM | Rowing Race 5 PM | MORE INFO
Teams of two will compete to build a rowing skiff within a 4-hour time limit and then test their boats for seaworthiness in a rowing relay on the Sampit River. The teams will be judged on construction speed, quality of work, and rowing speed. Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners.
Knot Tying with Dan “the Knot Man” and the Spirit Knot Tyers –Dan “the Knot Man” will demonstrate knot tying for children and adults. Visitors will have an opportunity to test their knot tying skills in the “Six Knot Challenge.” Dan is a member of the Spirit Knot Tyers and former president of the International Guild of Knot Tyers.
The Ship’s Store: Poster signing and T-shirts –Wooden Boat Show featured artist will be on hand to sign posters. Posters and T-shirts featuring this year’s original art will be available for sale.
Kid’s Model Boatbuilding –Children can try their hand at building a boat model and then test sail it in a pond on Front Street.
