The recognition honors music directors from each state and Washington, D.C. Tinsley was the only South Carolina music director selected.

“When I found out about this recognition, I was honestly surprised. I didn’t even have my mind set on this or any achievement of this caliber. I was in shock but humbly grateful,” said Tinsley.

This is Tinsley’s second year as A.C. Flora’s orchestra director. In the article, he told SB&O that his proudest moment as an educator was when he helped his students make region orchestra.
