A Message of Thanks from the Family of T.S. Clarence E. Gibbs
July 22, 2025In the days following the heartfelt homecoming of T.S. Clarence E. Gibbs, the family has been overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible outpouring of support from the Laurens County community and beyond. They wanted to share the following message as a way to express their appreciation to everyone who took part — whether by attending, standing silently in respect, waving a flag, or keeping them in prayer.
Please read their words below, offered with a grateful heart.
A Grateful Heart, From Our Family to Yours
On behalf of our entire family, I want to extend my deepest and most sincere thanks to this beautiful community.
After so many years, our beloved T.S Clarence E. Gibbs, a proud World War II veteran, was finally brought home. His return was marked with the kind of love, respect, and honor that truly touched our hearts. From the moving ceremony at the airport to Patriot Guard motorcycle escort to Clinton, every step of the way was filled with reverence.
To the first responders, veterans, law enforcement, and every kind soul who stood along the route — some waving flags, some saluting, some simply standing silently in respect — please know how much your presence meant to us. You reminded us that patriotism and kindness still live strong in the hearts of our neighbors. We were truly amazed by all the love and support that has been shown by strangers we now call friends. And Gray’s Funeral Home and Homer for the wonderful job Friday night.
Seeing those American flags waving, and knowing so many took time out of their day to honor him, brought tears to my eyes. It was a homecoming he so rightly deserved.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for standing with us. God bless you all, and God bless our veterans.
Cindy Sanders on behalf of the family of T.S. Clarence E. Gibbs
