AAF of the Midlands announces 2018-2019 public service client

July 18, 2018

The American Advertising Federation (AAF) of The Midlands has announced local nonprofit Palmetto Place Emergency Children’s Shelter as the club’s public service client for 2018-2019. AAF selects one nonprofit organization in the Midlands each year and assists them with their marketing and advertising needs.

Palmetto Place is an emergency shelter for children who need safe haven from child abuse and neglect. Their residential home has provided services 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the last 40 years; more than 7,000 children have called Palmetto Place their home. In 2016, Palmetto Place expanded their original home, adding space for more children and teens. They were also able to open a second location that serves the homeless teen and at-risk youth populations in the Midlands. Palmetto Place now has two houses and more than 50 beds for South Carolina’s most vulnerable children and teens.

It is Palmetto Place’s mission to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and teens who have faced abuse, abandonment, neglect and/or homelessness. Through their programs, they are able to accomplish this. AAF will begin work with Palmetto Place this summer.

“We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to partner with AAF of the Midlands this year. We are looking forward to working with them as they assist in our re-branding project to share with the community,” said Jill Lawson, executive director of Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter. “If we can do something that is going to bring more awareness to the community about the homeless youth epidemic and the traumas of youth in foster care, then we will pursue it.”

Our collaboration will work towards re-branding Palmetto Place in an effort to further reach those in need of these valuable services. For more information on AAF’s public service initiatives, visit aafmidlands.com.
