Accepting Nominations to Honor Everyday Philanthropists
May 29, 2014
Who are the philanthropists in your life – the every day, ordinary people who make a difference in our community through their life’s work? Have you ever wished there was a way to honor or recognize them for their work? Well, there is.
Each year, the Community Foundation hosts the Best of Philanthropy Awards, in conjunction with Columbia Metropolitan Magazine, to honor folks in the Midlands who are making significant contributions through their life’s work. I encourage you to nominate co-workers, friends and associates — people who are making a difference by helping others. We’re looking for everyday people who serve passionately but quietly; people whose actions often go unnoticed except by those who are directly affected by their gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Best of Philanthropy winners will be honored with a $1,000 donation made in their name to the nonprofit organization of their choice in the Foundation’s 11-county service area in the Midlands. All winners will also be recognized at the Foundation’s annual celebration on November 13th and featured in the November issue of Columbia Metropolitan Magazine. This year, awards will be given in the categories of Individual/Family, Student/Student Group, Local Business, and Group.
Submitting a nomination is simple. In 500 words or less, tell us about your nominee’s effort to address areas of need in our community. Nominations can be submitted through the online form on the Community Foundation’s website. The deadline for nominations is June 30, 2014. Need a little inspiration? Read here about our 2013, 2012, and 2011 honorees.
I look forward to receiving your Best of Philanthropy nominations and joining you to honor our winners in the fall.
Cheers!
