Access and Equity Conference Features Dr. Keith Miller of Greenville Tech
March 6, 2010The annual state conference for the South Carolina Professional Association for Access and Equity (SC PAAE) will be held April 7-9, 2010 at the Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club. Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College, will serve as keynote speaker at the event¹s President¹s Luncheon to be held April 8.The conference, sponsored by the South Carolina Association for Access and Equity and the Commission on Higher Education (CHE) will center around Access and Equity: Preparing Students for Careers.
Other highlights of the three-day schedule include a session on preparing students for college before they enter and along the way, a discussion of current trends in funding education, a look at jobs versus careers and the development of a comprehensive life map, and a breakfast roundtable with state legislators.
SC PAAE was established in 1995 by a group of individuals who work with minority-focused programs at colleges and universities in South Carolina to promote and support access and equity in higher education. In addition to its annual conference, the organization provides professional development and training opportunities, a scholarship awards program, forums with elected officials and others influential in the political process, fundraising activities, and research on issues that impact policy decisions important to the effectiveness of access and equity at higher education institutions across the state.
Caroline Canty of Greenville Tech currently serves as the group¹s president.
Rodney Cohen of Presbyterian College is president-elect, Lorinda Copeland of CHE is secretary, and Caren Kelley-Hall of Clemson University is the financial secretary.
