Amber Stewart joins Greenville Housing Fund in Advocacy Role

The Greenville Housing Fund (GHF) has added Amber Stewart as its Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement, starting July 22, 2024.

Stewart, who is relocating from Charleston to join GHF, will step into a new position designed to shape and advance local and state-level affordable housing policy priorities, both within GHF and in conjunction with the membership of the Greenville Affordable Housing Coalition, a broad-based partnership of affordable housing allies from across Greenville County. Her role will also include developing and leading community-outreach campaigns for awareness and advocacy around a variety of affordable housing-related issues.

Stewart comes to GHF after seven years at the SC Association for Community Economic Development (SCACED), where, as Program Director, she oversaw capacity-building initiatives that served community development organizations across the state, and supported SCACED’s policy initiatives. Those included advocating for the reauthorization of the Community Development Tax Credit, advancing SC Housing’s Housing Trust Fund program, and supporting legislation for consumer loan protections. She has also been an active member of the South Carolina Fair Lending Alliance and other statewide advocacy organizations. Stewart completed her undergraduate at Missouri State University and received her Master of Social Work, specializing in Social, Community, Economic Development, from the University of South Carolina. She is a certified Housing Development Finance Professional through Grow America, among other certifications.
