American College of the Building Arts inducts inaugural class of technical honor scholars

CHARLESTON, SC – The American College of the Building Arts, America’s only college to offer a Bachelor degrees in the building arts, has inducted its inaugural class of scholars into the National Technical Honor Society. Founded in 1984, The National Technical Honor Society strives to honor student achievement and leadership, promote educational excellence, award scholarships, and enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.

American College of the Building Arts President, Colby Broadwater, made the following statement:

“This honor reflects their outstanding academic achievements here at ACBA and their future potential as Educated Artisans As we honor our first inductees, I would encourage all our students to work to meet the requirements and join them as soon as you are eligible. The ACBA family joins me in congratulating them on this honor.  This is another in a series of “firsts” for our students and College.  Everything we do, like being able to include our students in the NTHS, brings great credit on both our students and ACBA.” – Colby Broadwater, President, American College of the Building Arts

The induction ceremony took place today, Thursday, October 9th at 12:30pm in the Library on the Main Campus (Old City Jail) of ACBA. The 10 inaugural inductees are:

    • Annie Arthur, Sophomore – Forged Architectural Iron
    • Andrew Bayer, Junior – Timber Framing
    • Tyler Bickerstaff, Senior – Forged Architectural Iron
    • Ian Hart, Sophomore – Forged Architectural Iron
    • Daniella Helline, Sophomore – Trowel Trade
    • Philip Jacob, Junior – Architectural Carpentry
    • Walker Janney, Junior – Timber Framing
    • Joe Nebiolo, Senior – Forged Architectural Iron
    • Shane Sakal, Junior – Timber Framing
    • Katie Williams, Sophomore – Wood Craft
