American Legion Post 25 Donates 750 Cans of Soup to Support Community Food Drive

January 17, 2026

American Legion Post 25 is stepping up once again to support neighbors in need, donating 750 cans of soup to First United Methodist Church as part of the annual “500 Cans of Soup Before the Daytona 500” food drive.

The donation not only surpasses the original 500-can goal but also serves as a challenge to the community to get involved and help match — or exceed — the Legion’s contribution.

“This is about neighbors helping neighbors,” said Kevin with American Legion Post 25. “We’re proud to donate 750 cans of soup, but we’re also challenging the community to step up and match what we’ve done. Together, we can make a real difference for families right here in Laurens.”

Community members who would like to participate in the challenge can drop off canned soup donations at Advantage Auto Parts or House of Pizza in Laurens. All donations will be distributed through First United Methodist Church to support individuals and families facing food insecurity in the community.

The “500 Cans of Soup Before the Daytona 500” drive has become a meaningful way for local organizations and residents to come together with a shared goal of giving back — combining community spirit with friendly competition for a worthy cause.

Donations are encouraged ahead of the Daytona 500 to help ensure local food supplies are well stocked for those in need.
