American Legion Post 25 Earns Department of South Carolina Children & Youth Award
November 2, 2025American Legion Post 25 of Laurens has been honored with the Children & Youth Award at the American Legion Department of South Carolina State Convention, in recognition of the post’s outstanding dedication to youth programs and support for children in the community.
The award celebrates the post’s contributions to the Legion’s pillar of Children & Youth—specifically its efforts to engage, uplift, and protect children and young people, including those from military- and veteran-family households. Through scholarship programs, youth leadership initiatives, and partnerships with local schools and civic organizations, Post 25 demonstrates the kind of service the award honors.
Post Commander Kevin Farnsworth remarked on the recognition:
“This award means everything to us because it reflects our belief that being part of this community isn’t just about veterans—it’s about the next generation. At Post 25, we’re committed to supporting our youth so they have the tools to succeed and serve.”
The Children & Youth Award adds to the post’s growing list of accomplishments and draws attention to its broad community impact beyond veteran services alone. The post’s motto, “A Force for Good in the Community,” underscores how its mission has evolved to address generational needs.
As Post 25 continues to build momentum, the award serves as both recognition and catalyst for future youth-focused programs in Laurens County.
