American Legion Post 25 Hosts Second Annual Golf Tournament
June 5, 2023The 2nd Annual American Legion Post 25 Charity Golf Tournament is in the books.
The event was held on June 2nd at the Lakeside Country Club. The charity tournament kicked off with a shotgun start with a full slate of 18 teams registered to play and another six teams hoping for a cancellation and the chance to participate.
In addition to the team fees, 49 local business signed up as hole sponsors, each paying $100 to have their logo and message displayed at one of the 18 tee boxes.
The Hole-in-One prize on the 17th Hole, a 2023 Ford Bronco sponsored by Furmin Ford went unclaimed, though there were a couple of close shots.
When the dust settled, Chris Callahan of State Farm claimed first place with the best golf score. Callahan generously donated his cash prize back to the charity fund, and all of the other winners followed his lead in donating their prize money back as well.
“Clearly, an event like this is not about winning and those participating showed that with the generous donations of money and time,” said American Legion Post 25 Commander Jim Peterson. “This tournament is about raising money to serve the local community and 100% of the money raised at this great event will remain in the community in various charities.”
This year the event raised a total of $8,000.
Special thanks goes out to Post 25 Vice Commander, Kevin Farnsworth, who served as the event chairman and coordinator. Farnsworth worked for many months putting this tournament together, and it should be no surprise to anyone that he is already working on the 2024 tournament.
