American Legion Post 25 to Host Grand Opening of New Pavilion in Laurens
September 18, 2024The American Legion Post 25 is set to host the grand opening of their newly constructed pavilion located at 19 Choctaw Street in Laurens on September 28th. The event will begin at 3:00 PM and will include live music, food, drinks, and a bounce house for children. The pavilion, which has been in the works for nearly eight years, is a major milestone for the organization, offering a new space for both veterans and the community to gather and connect.
Post Commander Kevin Farnsworth reflected on the long journey to making the pavilion a reality. “This was a concept that began about eight years ago and finally gained traction to move forward,” Farnsworth said. “We started by raising money for the project. We had two goals: to keep our charity funds and building funds separate. Our number one priority has always been supporting our community charities, which have grown over the years. We thank the county for the grant money that made this building possible so we can have a place for both veterans and the community.”
Farnsworth emphasized that the success of American Legion Post 25 is deeply rooted in the support of the Laurens County community. “We always hear responses from the community thanking us for what we do, but my response back is simple: we couldn’t do what we do if the community didn’t support us,” Farnsworth added. “We’ve grown to about 130 veterans, all of whom want to help in the community.”
The grand opening promises to be a fun-filled event for all ages, and the Post looks forward to welcoming the public to celebrate this exciting new chapter in their service to veterans and the local community.
