Anderson County Voter Registration & Elections moves into new facility at 301 North Main Street
July 29, 2015ANDERSON COUNTY, SC – Anderson County announced 301 North Main Street as the new location for Voter Registration & Elections. The move has been completed and the office is open for business.
According to Council Chairman Tommy Dunn, “This new location is more convenient for residents with adequate parking and a much more welcoming facility. County staff are now beginning the asbestos abatement of the Bailes and Old Woolworth Buildings in order to prepare for demolition of the buildings.”
“The Board of Voter Registration and Elections members and staff are excited to announce that we have moved into a new location at 301 N. Main Street,” said Katy Smith, Director. “This move would not have happened without the assistance of County Council Chairman, Mr. Tommy Dunn and the County Council. We would like to also extend our sincere thanks to the many members of our Anderson County Family that helped during this transition and made it possible.”
County staff are planning a ‘Grand Opening’ on August 10th. Details will be announced next week.
About Registration & Elections
The Board of Voter Registration and Elections is responsible for conducting all county, state, and federal elections that are held in Anderson County; to ensure that all elections are orderly, fair, and transparent. The Board also serves as a resource for election support for Municipal Election Commissions. The seven-member Board of Voter Registration and Elections is appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the Anderson County Legislative Delegation. An Executive Director is appointed by the Board to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections. The Board meets on the first Thursday of each quarter at 4:45 pm at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office, 107 S. Main St., Room 102 Anderson, SC.
Duties & Responsibilities
*Â Â Conduct local, state, and federal elections:
?  Recruit and train poll managers
?  Prepare Election Definition and Voting System for voting
?  Election Results Tabulation
?  Educate citizens on the use of voting system
*Â Â Serve as Absentee Precinct for all elections
*Â Â Maintain database of all registered voters in Anderson County
*Â Â Coordinate with outside Voter Registration Sites
*Â Â Petition Verification
*Â Â Public Relations:
?  Keep citizens of Anderson County up to date on all Election News
?  Speak to civic groups, students, etc. about election procedures
