Andy Satterfield Recognized as Greenville “Lawyer of the Year”

GREENVILLE, SC – October 18, 2011 – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, announced that Best Lawyers, one of the oldest and most respected peer-review publications in the legal profession, has named Partner Andreas (Andy) N. Satterfield, Jr. the “2012 Greenville Litigation – Labor & Employment Lawyer of the Year.  Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each legal community receives this honor, obtained by earning particularly high ratings in Best Lawyers surveys in which peers rank their colleagues’ abilities, professionalism, and integrity.

Mr. Satterfield has substantial experience representing employers in manufacturing, service, health care, retail, banking and restaurant industries.  He has handled cases involving  employment discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, age and disability; sexual harassment; wrongful discharge; retaliatory discharge; breach of contract; covenants not to compete and trade secret violations; wage and hour disputes and child labor violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). He has extensive experience counseling clients on compliance issues and litigation avoidance strategies; assisting employers with responses to EEOC charges and other administrative actions; drafting and implementing substance abuse policies; drafting noncompetition and nondisclosure agreements; drafting employee handbooks; and conducting supervisor training.

In addition to his recognition in The Best Lawyers in America, Mr. Satterfield is also recognized in the Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and South Carolina Super Lawyers publications for his experience in labor and employment law.

In 1985, Mr. Satterfield earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 1981.
