AnMed Health orthopaedic surgeons win award from Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics

Two AnMed Health orthopaedic surgeons have been selected as recipients of the prestigious Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) Award of Fellow. Dr. Darius Divina and Dr. Jesus Castillo were unanimously approved for the award of fellow by the AOAO board of directors. They will receive their award in Atlanta, GA on October 19.

The designation is bestowed upon members who have served the academy, their hospital or practice, community and/or certifying board. Fellow members receive points for their experience in leadership positions within the academy as well as other member organizations. They may also receive points for their published research as well as for their role in osteopathic orthopedic education. To apply for the award of fellow, members must complete an application, be sponsored by a fellow member of the academy and have a minimum of 100 points. A selection committee makes a recommendation to the board of directors.

Dr. Divina is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete his residency training at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, where he served as chief orthopaedic resident. Dr. Divina practices general orthopaedic surgery with an emphasis on osteoarthritis, total joint replacement and trauma.

Dr. Jesus Castillo is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and graduate of the Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He completed his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry School of Osteopathic Medicine, where he served as the chief orthopaedic surgery resident. Dr. Castillo served on active duty for the U.S. Navy at the Naval Hospital at Camp LeJeune, where he served as chief of orthopaedics. Dr. Castillo practices general orthopaedic surgery with an emphasis on treatment of sports injuries; shoulder, hip and knee arthroscopy; cartilage restoration and trauma.
