AnMed Health to build a new family medicine practice in Wren

ANDERSON, SC – July 20, 2011 – AnMed Health celebrated a groundbreaking today for its newest medical office, AnMed Health Wren Family Medicine. The practice will initially provide primary care. Future plans include adding a specialist rotation and enhanced diagnostic capabilities.
The 6,624-square-foot practice will be located on 1.75 acres at 6650 S.C. 81 North, near the corner of S.C. 81 and S.C. 8. Design plans call for nine exam rooms, a procedure room, lab space and an x-ray room. Construction will begin immediately, and AnMed Health Wren Family Medicine will open in early 2012.
AnMed Health owns approximately 40 acres at site where the practice will be built. The health system has created a master plan for the property allowing AnMed Health Wren Family Medicine to grow with the Wren community. According to U.S. Census Bureau, the Powdersville-Piedmont area has shown the most significant growth in Anderson County over the past 10 years. The area grew by 34.32 percent from 19,655 residents in 2000 to 26,414 in residents 2010, a growth of nearly 7,000 people.

AnMed Health Wren Family Medicine will be home to two primary care physicians, Dr. Michael D. Seemuller and Dr. Kimberly K. Rothman.
Dr. Seemuller is a board-certified family medicine physician who is returning to the Upstate. A graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, Dr. Seemuller completed his residency training in the AnMed Health Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Seemuller has more than 10 years of experience. His clinical interests include diabetes, hypertension and obesity management; preventative care for the whole family; skin cancer removal; and sports medicine.
Dr. Rothman is also a graduate of the AnMed Health Family Medicine Residency Program. A Kentucky native, Dr. Rothman completed medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. After medical school, she started an anesthesiology residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. In 2002, Dr. Rothman took a break from medicine to raise a family. During that time, she discovered her calling to family medicine. At AnMed Health, Dr. Rothman served as chief resident and was named outstanding first year resident in both obstetrics and internal medicine.
