Announcement of Leadership Lexington County 2012 Class Project

LEXINGTON, SC – November 12, 2012 – Leadership Lexington County Class of 2012 announces the kick-off of a fall food drive supporting Lexington Interfaith Community Services and invites the community to an open house on Thursday, November 29th from 5-7 p.m. at 216 Harmon Street in Lexington unveiling facility improvements. 

Leadership Lexington County (LLC) is a non-profit educational organization that offers a stimulating program which examines issues that face Lexington County. For 18 years, LLC has worked with existing and emerging leaders to energize community engagement. For the past four months, the 2012 LLC Class has engaged in a class project providing finishing touches to the Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) facility.  Today, Leadership Lexington County’s 2012 Class kicked off a food drive to assist LICS with much needed items to enhance services to people in Lexington County.
 
“Leadership Lexington County engages community leaders and works to improve the quality of life in the Midlands. We are proud of the 2012 Class project working with LICS”, said Lee Barrett, Board Chair, Leadership Lexington County.
 
LICS, established in 1979, provides emergency services to families in crisis in the Lexington area. Last year, LICS assisted over 25,000 people with one or more of the following: food, clothing, housing, prescription medications and other financial assistance.
 
“We are excited to work with the Leadership Lexington County 2012 Class to provide needed finishing touches to our facilities and fall food drive. Leadership Lexington County will help us continue to provide quality services and needed food items to the community”, said Michele Eargle, Lexington Interfaith Community Services Board Chairman.
 
On November 29th from 5-7 p.m. the community is invited to LICS’ facility located at 216 Harmon Street in Lexington for an open house. Items for the food drive may be dropped off at the event or food drive donation points throughout Lexington from November 10th to November 29th.

Founded in 1979 by the Lexington Ministerial Association, Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) began providing emergency services to families in crisis. Presently, LICS is the only ministry serving all of Lexington County, Saluda County and part of Calhoun County.
