Anthems of the Upstate: Mauldin City Singers to Perform
April 3, 2026The Mauldin Cultural Center is preparing to echo with the sounds of heritage and hope as the Mauldin City Singers take the stage for their annual spring performance. This year’s concert, titled “Songs of Liberty,” is scheduled for April 25 and 26, offering a patriotic tribute as the community begins looking toward America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Directed by Pam Mayfield, the community choir has become a staple of the Golden Strip’s cultural identity, known for its ability to blend high-level choral technique with a deep sense of local spirit.
A Program of Patriotism
“Songs of Liberty” is designed as a journey through the musical history of the United States. The repertoire is expected to feature a mix of timeless patriotic anthems, spirituals, and contemporary choral works that explore themes of freedom, resilience, and unity.
While the group is known for its powerful full-ensemble sound, the spring concert often highlights individual voices within the community through smaller chamber pieces and solo performances. This year’s program specifically aims to honor the diverse voices that have shaped the American narrative over the last two and a half centuries.

Community-Centered Art
The Mauldin City Singers serve as an “open-door” ensemble, inviting residents from Mauldin, Simpsonville, and Fountain Inn to audition twice a year. Under Mayfield’s direction, the group focuses on more than just musical excellence; it serves as a social bridge for residents of all ages and backgrounds.
This spring concert is a particularly significant one for us, said a spokesperson for the Mauldin Cultural Affairs Department. As we look ahead to the nation’s semiquincentennial, ‘Songs of Liberty’ allows us to reflect on our shared history right here in our own backyard.
Spring Arts Season in Full Bloom
The “Songs of Liberty” concert arrives during a busy month for the Mauldin Cultural Center. The venue is also currently hosting the Mauldin Theatre Company’s educational classes and preparing for the OneMauldin Community Celebration on April 9, where the city will unveil its new logo.
For those unable to attend the April performances, the Mauldin City Singers are already beginning preparations for their summer schedule, which often includes appearances at local community festivals and holiday ceremonies across the Golden Strip.
