Artisphere Seeks Arts Group Volunteers for Festival Weekend

January 2, 2011

Annual event’s Arts Partner Program supports local arts community

GREENVILLE, SC – Artisphere, Greenville’s Arts Weekend, is currently accepting group volunteer applications for its Arts Partner Program.  A unique element of Artisphere, its Arts Partner Program provides local nonprofit arts organizations with a portion of the proceeds from Artisphere in recognition of their assistance in recruiting the almost 600 volunteers needed to run the festival each year. Since its inception in 2006, Artisphere has “regranted” $85,000 to local arts groups through the program.

The Arts Partner Program places volunteers in key positions during the festival’s three-day event scheduled for May 13-15, 2011. Interested organizations must be a registered 501(c) 3 nonprofit arts-related group such as dance, theater, performance, cultural arts, etc.  Arts Partner Program groups must be able to provide a minimum of 50 volunteers to work at least two four-hour shifts and identify a coordinator that is required to attend two meetings and a brief training session prior to the festival. Volunteers can apply by filling out a volunteer application at www.greenvillesc.gov/PublicInfo_Events/Volunteers.aspx. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2011 at 5 p.m.
