Association of Fundraising Professionals Announces 2014 National Philanthropy Day Winners

COLUMBIA, SC – The SC Central Carolina Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is excited to welcome John Mullaney, Executive Director of The Nord Family Foundation, as the keynote speaker for the 24th Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on November 13 at 11:30 a.m. at The Medallion Center at 7309 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia SC.
In more than 25 years of activity, The Nord Family Foundation has contributed more than $90 million for charitable and philanthropic purposes in the Midlands and several other communities of interest to the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Walter and Virginia Nord. Mullaney has served as Executive Director since 1998, guiding the Foundation to address both the immediate needs in the communities it serves and pushing to address larger policy issues.

Each year, National Philanthropy Day honors the finest achievements in the philanthropic community in the Midlands. The 2014 Award recipients are:
- Outstanding Fundraising Executive – Ginny Waller, Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands
- Outstanding Corporation – Colonial Life
- Outstanding Philanthropist – Debbie Zvejnieks, EdVenture Children’s Museum
- Outstanding Volunteer Group Fundraiser – Pink Posse
- Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser – Bishop Redfern II
- Youth Group – Cardinal Newman Dance Marathon
The 4th Annual Charlotte L. Berry Spirit of Philanthropy Scholarship recipients will also be announced. The scholarship has been established to honor Berry’s philanthropic and community building efforts across the Midlands while supporting the professional evolution of fundraising officers in underfunded organizations and underrepresented populations through membership in the Associations of Fundraising Professionals SC, Central Carolina Chapter (AFP-CSC).
