Association of Fundraising Professionals announces 2017 National Philanthropy Day Winners

The SC Central Carolina Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) with Presenting Sponsor Michael J. Mungo Foundation, will honor the finest achievements of the philanthropic community in the Midlands at the 27th Annual National Philanthropy Day on October 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Columbia Marriott.

 

The 2017 National Philanthropy Day Award recipients are:

Outstanding Corporation – Aflac Corporation

Outstanding Fundraising Executive — G.B. Olsen, United Way of the Midlands

Outstanding Marketing Professional in Support of Philanthropy — David Campbell, Chernoff Newman

Outstanding Philanthropist — Major General Robert and Barbara Livingston

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser — Zoe Miller and Brianna Kennedy

Outstanding Volunteer Group Fundraiser — Employees of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina

“The Central SC Chapter of AFP is proud to honor philanthropists, volunteers and professionals who are on the front lines of changing and saving lives every day,” said Wendi Spratt, National Philanthropy Day Chair. “This is our 27th year hosting National Philanthropy Day and it is shaping up to be one of the largest events in our history.”

The event will also recognize the 7th Annual Charlotte L. Berry Spirit of Philanthropy Scholarships recipients. The scholarship was established to honor Berry’s philanthropic and community building efforts across the Midlands while supporting the professional evolution of fundraising officers in underfunded organizations and underrepresented populations through membership in AFP.

 

The 2017 winners of the Charlotte Lunsford Berry Spirit of Philanthropy Scholarships are:

Tanisha Brown, Midlands Technical College

Brittany Russell, Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands
